Still trying to deal with the comments...

After dealing with the emotions of watching my body change and my belly grow, I've come to the realization that I'm okay with my pregnant body.

Sure, things are bigger than they were before.  Sure, I miss wearing some of my old clothes, and heels.  But my body is doing something amazing right now.  I'm creating a human being.  There is a small person in my belly, a tiny human being that I absolutely adore.  I wish people would take their focus off of me, and think about this beautiful gift that will soon be born.

Just a few minutes ago, one of my coworkers came up to me asking me when my last day is.  First, I wondered why it's her business.  We work in different departments, and she's a temp.  Who has been here for 3 weeks.  I told her the same thing I tell everyone, that I plan on working until the end, unless my body tells me not too.  She looked at me like I was crazy and asked me why.  Again, I'm wondering why it's her business, but I didn't want to see mean or "hormonal" so I explained to her that I feel great, my aches and pains are minimal, no swelling, I can still sleep well at night, etc.  There isn't a reason for me to think about leaving work right now.  And then she tells me that my pregnancy is only going this well because it's my first, and that I will be huge at the end with a puffy face.  I almost punched her.

Seriously, the lady was about to get decked.

Why on earth is it okay to tell me how fat I'm going to get?  Or to tell me how the remainder of my pregnancy is going to go?  Everyone swore up and down that I'd blow up before I turned 6 months.  Well, I'll be 7 months next week...  And not much has changed.  Grrrr.....  It really gets under my skin.  I've started dodging questions and changing the subject with people.  It is SO irritating.

Being pregnant is already such an emotional time.  Add on to it the fact that your body is changing and you can't do the things that you could in a non-pregnant state, and it can leave you with some body image issues.  Whether you've gained or not.  I don't understand why people don't take that into consideration before opening their mouth to make a comment.

Either I'm too small, or I'm going to get HUGE.  Those are the only comments I seem to be getting.  Oh wait, no, someone asked me if I'm starving myself.  Yeah, that made me feel great.  Like I'm so concerned about my image that I'd deprive my helpless child of the nutrients that she needs to grow.  Never mind the BAG of bagels that I have sitting on my desk, or the orange I was eating.

Sorry about the rant...  I know I've talked about this time and time again.  But it still bothers me...

27 Weeks!! Only 10 weeks until FULL TERM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How far along? 27 weeks!!  Only 10 weeks until FULL TERM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  (And only 3 weeks away from my next goal of 30 weeks!)

Total weight gain/loss: I'll know for sure on Friday.  I know I've gained though, I've been eating like crazy.

Sleep: Still good.  My hands and legs fall asleep, so I have to keep rolling from side to side.  I love being in a sleepy haze and feeling Bunny move around, it's so reassuring to know she's okay in there.

Food cravings: Fruit and candy.  I'm really trying to cut back on the sweets.  But I really crave them.  I'm trying to just eat more fruits instead of actually buying candy.  Hubby and I went to the market and bought a bunch of fruit for me to eat.  And it really does help with the sweet cravings.  Eating an orange is WAY better than eating a box of Fruit Rollups (and yes, I did eat a whole box in one day).

Best moment this week: Actually feeling cute again!  I wore some leggings with a long sweater and some boots, and I actually felt like my old self.  It was great!

Movement: All.the.time!  This girl is nonstop active.  And I'm not surprised.  My husband and I are both active.  I've started feeling movement way above my belly button more consistently.  It's great!  And it lets me know that my uterus is growing right on track.

Labor Signs: NO! I don't even want to think about this until 37 weeks... (this answer is going to remain the same until 37 weeks, lol!)Gender: Little Miss Priss

Stretchies: Not yet...  I don't know why I think I'm going to get them.  I've been using all natural Shea butter at night, and pure Vitamin E oil in the mornings.  My skin has never felt this moisturized.  I'd totally recommend the Shea butter, even though it's kind of weird looking in it's natural form.  It comes in this yellow block, and you have to chip some off and rub it together in your palms so you can spread it on your body.  But it's so rich and doesn't feel greasy.  I love it!

Belly Button in or out? Partly in, partly out.

What I miss: Not having indigestion.  The gurgles are NOT fun.  But that's nothing, I'd easily sacrifice that in order to have a healthy baby.

What I am looking forward to: Oddly enough, taking the 1 hour Glucose test. To me it signifies nearing the end of pregnancy. I take it on October 1st, I'll be nearly 28 weeks!

Symptoms: Frequent urination and increased appetite, and Indigestion!

Milestones: THIRD TRIMESTER!!!  I can't believe it!!!

Weekly wisdom: Even though you constantly have to pee, drink plenty of water.  It really does make you feel better.

Emotions: Pretty good.  I'm so excited to meet my baby girl, only 10 more weeks and then she can make her grand debut!

Poor, poor buttons and pregnancy cravings...

I guess I got a little too comfortable with the fact that I can still fit into my regular clothes, and wore a sweater BUTTONED to work last week.  At lunch, I looked down and noticed that it looked like the sweater was screaming as it tried to cover my belly.  Here's a pic:

Poor buttons.....  Needless to say, I unbuttoned the sweater and wore it open for the rest of the day.  LOL!

Also, DH and I were at the store and I caught a whiff of something delicious as I walked past the bakery.  That one whiff resulted in the deliciousness that is pictured below:

It's called a Bouquet Cupcake.  And it looks SOOO yummy!  I was all set to chomp on it, but then I felt guilty about eating so many sweets before the glucose test.  It'll probably sit in the fridge until the middle of the night when I wake up wanting a snack.  Yummy!  I can't wait to taste it.   The cupcake is HUGE, the picture doesn't show it's real size.  Pregnancy cravings at their finest!

Thanks for all the suggestions/comments about the glucose testing/skinny jeans.  I found some on Old Navy's website, and I have a 40% off coupon, so they might be my next purchase.  Hooray for pregnancy fashion!

1 Hour Glucose Test and other ramblings...

So, my 1 hour Glucose test is on Friday.  Any tips on how I can pass it???

I'm so nervous that I'll fail, I've been completely addicted to candy lately.  I'm trying to increase my water intake, and I've been walking a lot.  Hopefully all will go well.

I still have to pinch myself every now and then, because I can't believe that I'm almost in the home stretch.  My husband and I have been trying to get everything ready for Bunny, and the shower is fast approaching.  Ahh!  I'm just so excited!

Also, it seems like the first trimester is coming back to haunt me.  I've been experiencing many of the symptoms, such as; nausea, sensitivity to smell, fatigue, frequent urination, bloating, irritability, food aversions, etc.  I guess it's true what they say, the second trimester is the "honeymoon phase".

I was kind of freaked out yesterday because my lower back was aching and my lower abdomen was hurting.  I kept a close eye on it because I didn't want to overlook something that could be serious.  Thankfully, the pain in my back went away when I changed the position I was laying in.  And I think the lower abdominal pain was Round Ligament Pain, and Bunny trying to squeeze back into her favorite position.

27 weeks tomorrow!  Woo-hoo!!  Another week closer to my next goal.  I just pray that she remains healthy and happy in there.  And that she stays in for another 10 weeks AT LEAST.

One more thing, anyone know where I can find a pair of maternity skinny jeans?  Boot season is pretty much in full effect, and I want some other options besides leggings.  I heard Forever 21 had some, but they aren't in the store and I can't find them on their website.  Thanks in advance!

I'm SO glad it's Friday!

Thank you for all of your kind words ladies, I really appreciate it.  Lalla, it's good to know that the Baby Blues are common and that they go away.  It's so weird how I can know that I'm being irrational, but can't control it.

Oh, and Ashley, Bella Bands are a MUST for me.  I love them!  Earlier in my pregnancy I ventured out and bought some maternity clothes because I couldn't stand to have things pressing up against my belly.  They were all too big, but I wore them anyways.  Once my uterus starting moving up, I was able to wear my pre-pregnancy jeans with the Bella Band and feel comfortable.  I've always been a fan of longer shirts, so they still fit for the moment (although I did notice that they are starting to seem shorter lately).  I plan on wearing lots of tights and leggings with sweater dresses for the fall.  Oh and boots, I LOVE BOOTS!!

Sam, I'm going to go buy a stool today.  That is a great idea!  And I know what you mean about the hair, it's getting on my nerves.  I feel like I need to shave every day.

This has been a tiring work week for me, and I feel like my focus isn't 100%.  October is next week, and then I'll be in the 3rd Trimester.  Where.did.the.time.go?  It seems like it was just yesterday that I was longing to be in the 2nd Trimester...

We really need to get a move on with Bunny's room.  It's still our office.  We started cleaning it out, but it's not ready to be occupied by a little person.  I guess in some ways I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I'm actually going to have a baby.  Yes, I'm pregnant.  Yes, I feel her kick and roll.  Yes, I have ultrasound pictures and videos of her.  But I don't think I'll actually believe it until she's born.  I've been dreaming about being a mom for as long as I can remember.  It just boggles my mind to think that my dream is coming true.  (Insert tears here, yup, just typing that made me cry at work.)  I just want her to be safe and healthy.  The love that I feel for this child is amazing.  And it's just the tip of the iceberg.

I noticed that all of my shirts look worn on the belly and couldn't figure out why.  I blamed my laundry detergent, until one day my husband was driving me home from work and said, "You never let go of that belly."  I looked down, and I was rubbing my belly, without even realizing it.  Now I notice that it's something that I do ALL day EVERY day.  LOL!  I'm wearing my clothes out!  I just love to be connected to my little girl, and belly rubs give that connection.

What's a guy to do...

when his wife gets out the shower and comes to him crying because she couldn't catch her breath after shaving her legs, and she says she felt like she was trying to shave a bear??

I think husbands of pregnant wives deserve an award.  My poor husband has had to deal with the brunt of my crazy emotions.  Yesterday was a low self-esteem day for me.  My back was hurting so I decided to shower last night instead of this morning.  The water made my back feel better, so I went ahead and shaved my legs.  When I bent down to shave, my legs looked HUGE.  I felt like my body was foreign to me.  I couldn't bend over all the way because my belly was in the way, and I was huffing and puffing because I was all out of breath.

I got out of the shower, dried off, and went to my husband crying.  My husband gave me a hug, told me that I look great and that my body is new and improved, and that I'm awesome for growing his daughter.  And then he went and got me food from Wendys.  What a great guy!!

Looking back, it's hilarious.  I know I'm not huge.  I'm sitting at work wearing all pre-pregnancy clothes and I'm nearly 7 months pregnant!  But I do have my moments where I feel like a wreck.  Ashley has a great post on her blog about how funny it is to look a photos of yourself pre-pregnancy, and know that you felt fat then.  When you were skinny!!  I could totally relate...

26 weeks!!

How far along? 26 weeks!! Only four weeks away from my next goal, which is 30 weeks.

Total weight gain/loss: I think 5 lbs? Not too sure, my scale at home fluctuates to much on my weight that I really can't tell.

Sleep: Pretty good. I noticed that my hands fall asleep lately. I read that it's normal, but it's still weird to wake up to fingers that are numb. I think it's because I sleep with my hands under my head, or one under my head and the other under my belly.

Food cravings: Fruit, and Snickers Ice Cream bars. YUM!!

Best moment this week: Strangers asking me when I'm due. It makes me feel like I'm really pregnant, LOL! But then I tell them how pregnant I am, and they looked shocked. One lady told me she thought I was only 3 months!

Movement: She's really starting to roll around a lot. It feels so weird, I try to describe the feeling to my husband, but I can't put it in words. She's going to have really strong legs, she uses my uterus like it's one big resistance band.

Labor Signs: NO! I don't even want to think about this until 37 weeks... (this answer is going to remain the same until 37 weeks, lol!)

Gender: A princess!

Stretchies: Nope, I thought I saw one the other day, so I woke my husband up to have him look at it. It was an indention from my sweat pants. I know I'm going to get them one day...

Belly Button in or out? Partly in, partly out.

What I miss: Being able to drink a whole glass of juice or water without feeling all gurgly afterwards. I guess it's indigestion?

What I am looking forward to: Oddly enough, taking the 1 hour Glucose test. To me it signifies nearing the end of pregnancy. I take it on October 1st, I'll be nearly 28 weeks!

Symptoms: Frequent urination and increased appetite.

Milestones: Nearing my goal of 30 weeks! I'm super excited!!

Weekly wisdom: Snickers Ice Cream bars are a delicious and perfectly acceptable breakfast food. I ate two of them for breakfast yesterday, and I'm not ashamed. (LOL!)

Emotions: Up and down still. One minute I'm SUPER excited and ready for her to come out. and the next I'm freaked out because I have to GIVE BIRTH!

OMG!!!!!

I get to meet Bunny in less than 100 days!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHH!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was telling DH yesterday that we were in the double digits, he couldn't believe it either. Wow!!

"E"normous

Well, it looks like my chest has decided to work it's way through the alphabet. Pre-pregnancy, I was wearing a 36B or 34C comfortably. Around 6 weeks pregnant I started to experience "double boobage", so hubby and I went to Motherhood Maternity and I got sized. I was shocked when I walked out with 3 bras in a size 36D! There was still some room in them to grow, so I figured I could wear them until Bunny arrived, which is why I bought all nursing bras. Boy was I wrong...

My husband kept telling me that I should go get another bra fitting. The double boob had emerged once again. I thought the bras had just shrank in the wash. So in we go to Motherhood Maternity to get sized again. I almost passed out cold when I was told that my "girls" new home would be in a size 36E bra. How much bigger are these things going to get?!?!?!? I'm getting smarter though, I only bought one bra this time. Let's see how long it lasts...

25 weeks 3 days belly pics

Please excuse the shiny belly, I had just oiled up with my Bio Oil. Still no stretch marks on my belly (thank goodness!), I don't have any related to pregnancy, only the ones that showed up when I was a teenager.

A brighter day

After having such a rough day yesterday, it was so nice to wake up feeling refreshed. I didn't fret over my husband during the night, and it was a clear and easy drive to work this morning. Just what I needed.

I did a lot of self evaluating yesterday evening. And I'm at a much better place. Thank you to everyone who left a comment, I appreciated every single word that I read.

During a conversation with my boss today, she told me that she too had fears about her husband and close family members during her pregnancy. She also stated that she knows that when those emotions surfaced, she was transitioning into "mom mode". I truly think that's what is happening to me. We had a long talk this morning, and she was so helpful. It really made my day.

I'm changing my focus from the things that cause me stress, to the things that I'm grateful for. These things include: my daughter, my husband, my health, my family and friends, and my upbringing.

I've spent too much time waiting for "the other shoe to drop", it's time to just live and let it go.

They didn't mention this in the pregnancy books...

Of course I went out and bought all the pregnancy books once I found out I was pregnant. Well, many of them I already had, but a few new ones were added to the collection.

Every week my husband and I go through and read about what's going on with the baby, and my body. It helps keep us informed, and bond with the baby. We both knew I'd be emotional, possibly swollen, and gaining weight. But lately I've been feeling this overwhelming fear of something happening to my husband. I may have mentioned it before, but it's really bad today. Actually, lately it's gotten worse. It's to the point that if he doesn't answer his phone I completely freak out. If I can't see his chest rising and falling when he sleeps I wake him up. I can think about him and start bawling. Maybe it's my hormones preparing me to check on Bunny when she's born and make sure that she's okay. I'm not sure.

My husband usually drops me off at work so we don't have to pay for parking, and so I don't have to walk by myself to my building. It's POURING down rain today, the roads are bad, and I'm highly emotional. I'm freaking out about something happening to my husband during his drive to work.

I'm slightly concerned about this because it's so out of character for me. Usually my personality is laid back, and I don't get stressed very easily. So for me to get worked up over things that aren't even confirmed is kind of scary. And I think that fact that I watched 'The Time Traveler's Wife' on Monday made it even worse. I hope these feelings go away after Bunny is born, I can't imagine feeling like this forever...

25 weeks!!

How far along? 25 weeks! I'm SO excited to be at this stage in my pregnancy, and I feel very fortunate.

Total weight gain/loss: Still around 5 lbs, it's kind of hard to determine because my scale at home calculates differently than the scale at the Dr.

Sleep: Really good. When she moves around when I'm trying to sleep, it puts my mind at ease and I end up sleeping better. Not sure how long this will last, her kicks are getting stronger and stronger!

Food cravings: Still fruit, and cheeseburgers. Food has been sort of difficult this week because I have the GROSS taste in my mouth after I eat. My good friend GOOGLE says it's pretty normal during pregnancy (and I did have it in the beginning), but it makes me not want to eat sometimes.

Best moment this week: Interacting with my little girl. DH and I talk to her and sing to her, and she moves and kicks like crazy. I absolutely love it!

Movement: Oh yes! She's a ninja! Watching my belly move is my favorite past time. And her moving around makes me feel like she's doing okay in there.

Labor Signs: NO! I don't even want to think about this until 37 weeks... (this answer is going to remain the same until 37 weeks, lol!)

Gender: A little LADY!

Stretchies: Not yet, I'm still waiting. I heard that they just pop up out of the blue, so I'll just keep checking...

Belly Button in or out? Parts of it actually started to pop. It kinda freaked me out! You can kind of see it if I'm wearing a shirt that's really fitted.

What I miss: Not wishing time away. I want to focus more on enjoying pregnancy, it's such a special time, but I still have a HUGE fear of her being born prematurely. So every week that passes is like gold to me, and I find that I wish the weeks would pass by more quickly.

What I am looking forward to: Our baby shower!!! It's coming up, October 24th. We have the location all set, and the invitations are going out next weekend! I'm so excited! (But also secretly afraid that no one will show up.)

Symptoms: Frequent urination and increased appetite.

Milestones: Getting closer to the 3rd Trimester! Woo-hoo!!

Weekly wisdom: Take time out to appreciate each day. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

Emotions: Anxious and nervous. The "unknown" really freaks me out. I feel so connected to my baby, and I already love her SO much that it causes me to worry about a lot of things. Especially prematurity. It's good that I'm informed and aware of the issues and complications, but at the same time, I wish I could clear my head. I was re-reading one of my favorite blogs: http://justincarl.blogspot.com/, my friend Georgina is the author and her son Justin was born 15.5 weeks early. Her story brings tears to my eyes. And the fact that Justin is here today makes me SO happy and fills me with so much hope. But it is also a dose of reality. Don't take anything for granted.

Hot apple cider and fresh donuts

Doesn't that sound yummy?

I LOVE this time of the year. Picking pumpkins, wearing soft fuzzy sweaters, sipping hot chocolate with whipped cream on the porch with friends.

When that First Response turned positive on April 17, 2010 it seemed like AGES until we reached September. At three weeks pregnant, my mind couldn't even fathom being 6 MONTHS pregnant. But here we are 24 weeks and counting, and I feel so fortunate!

This time of the year reminds me that in a little while I will be meeting my baby girl. The cooler the weather gets, the more frost that is on my windshield, and the fewer leaves that are on the trees all symbolize to me that my due date is fast approaching. To say that I'm excited would be an understatement.

With my ever expanding belly comes the ever expanding comments from random people. I'm trying accept the fact that this is just a part of pregnancy and that for the most part people don't mean any harm. But it does get quite frustrating. I never understood why pregnant women would get so out of sorts when people commented on their bump. But now I get it. It's hard to be hormonal, and see your body change, even if the change is welcomed. Then to have people make comments like, "WOW! You really popped overnight," or ,"OMG! You're going to be HUGE!," doesn't make you feel any better. And I'm fortunate that I'm still able to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes and haven't gained much weight. But the comments still come. And my feeling do get hurt at times. Especially on the days when I'm already feeling self-conscious and my stomach feels like it's about to burst. Hearing about how I'm getting "bigger and bigger" can be like a slap in the face. But I'm getting tougher. My belly has a purpose, it's protecting my most valued possession until she is ready to make her debut. So I just smile and nod, rub my belly, and thank God for my precious bundle of joy.

Happy V Day!!! And 24 week update.

Happy Viability Day to my sweet baby girl! 24 weeks marks the point that Bunny would have a greater chance of surviving if she were to be born prematurely.

It feels SOO good to have reached one of my goals, now I just have three more hitting 30, 34, and then 37 weeks. We can do it!!!

How far along? 24 weeks! Yeah!! I've been waiting for this day for a long time!!

Total weight gain/loss: 5 lbs since the beginning of my pregnancy.

Sleep: Great this week. I have had to get up to use the restroom more frequently, since Bunny likes to kick my bladder. And she always has the hiccups at night, but it's so cute!

Food cravings: Still fruit, and cheeseburgers.

Best moment this week: Hitting 24 weeks, and getting a good report from the doctor on Friday.

Movement: They are getting stronger. I notice her hiccuping, and she kicks my bladder a TON. But it lets me know that she's okay in there, so I don't mind it.

Labor Signs: NO! I don't even want to think about this until 37 weeks... (this answer is going to remain the same until 37 weeks, lol!)

Gender: Girl!

Stretchies: I'm still in the clear, let's see how long it lasts.

Belly Button in or out? In... kind of... everyone says it looks like it's going to pop out any minute.

What I miss: Not being so grouchy. I get irritated so easily, especially when I'm hungry. But other than that, nothing.

What I am looking forward to: Getting her room ready, and having the baby shower.

Symptoms: Grouchiness and frequent urination.

Milestones: Viability!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekly wisdom: Sorry, nothing this week...

Emotions: Anxious, but excited. C'mon December!!

23 week appointment

Bunny and I had our 23 week check up today. It was really simple. I thought that they would have me give a urine sample or something, but they didn't. My midwife told me that it's time to sign up for childbirth classes. Eek! Me? Childbirth classes? It seems so surreal.

Everything was great during the appointment. Bunny's heart rate was in the 160's. My baby bump is measuring 24 cm, (which is awesome), and they scheduled my 1 hour glucose test.

Oh, and my total weight gain this pregnancy is 5 pounds!! So I did gain something. Which make me feel so much better. So all is well. Thank goodness!!

I'm off to search for childbirth classes in my area, I hope everyone has a great weekend!
